CURRENT PRODUCTION:    OKLAHOMA! by Rodgers and Hammerstein

Classic Musical celebrates the beauty

of life on the Prairie

Rehearsals are in full swing for Hoffman Estates High School’s 2016 musical production of Oklahoma!  Will Curly win the heart of Laurey, the girl of his dreams, or will the conniving Jud stand in the way? Find out when you come see Oklahoma!

Oklahoma! changed the landscape of musical theatre when it premiered in 1943, creating the modern American “book musical” by uniting well-drawn characters, linear plot structure, and integrated songs and dances.

Life on the plains takes center stage – colored by romance and jealousy, adventure and adversity. Curly, an exuberant cowboy, and Laurey, a farm girl, deny their obvious attraction – creating an opportunity for the farmhand Jud, to come between them. Laurey’s friend, Ado Annie finds herself torn between her local beau Will and the smooth-talking traveling salesman Ali Hakim.  The show is set in the Indian territory that will become Oklahoma at the turn of the century when cattlemen and farmers were fighting over fences and water rights. .

The music and lyrics have proven to be some of the best in musical theatre with songs that include "Oh What a Beautiful Morning", "The Surrey with the Fringe on Top", People Will Say We're in Love, "I Can't Say No", "Oklahoma! and many more, making this a musical treat for all the family.
